The Ute Pass Symphony Guild organized in 1979 for the purpose of funding concerts by what is now the Colorado Springs Philharmonic Orchestra. The all-volunteer board wrote letters, made phone calls and went door-to-door to raise the then substantial sun of $5,000. The basics have not changed, ensuring that the Symphony Above the Clouds remains a vital part of the area's summer celebration.
